OTIS Nature is committed to developing a structured network of universal access to tourism so that everyone can take full advantage of all facilities, whatever their physical or functional challenges. OTIS Nature’s site and accommodations are designed to be accessible to all clienteles, whether with a walker, in a wheelchair, with children in strollers, visually impaired, etc.
Located in Lac-Saint-Jean, on the shores of Lake Tchitogama and at the foot of the Monts-Valin mountain range, the first OTIS Nature site is a laboratory offering outdoor facilities with full universal access, from camping to marina, restaurant/bar and snowmobiling equipment.
Proof that innovation isn’t just digital or technological, OTIS Nature is part of the fifth MT Lab cohort. With an ageing population, the accessible tourism market has a bright future ahead of it, even though the supply is virtually non-existent.
Participation in the MT Lab has enabled OTIS Nature to benefit from valuable coaching, relevant training and a wealth of useful information. What’s more, the young company was awarded a human resources grant worth $50,000. Its participation in the Demo Day held at the Palais des Congrès also enabled it to refine its pitch and the quality of its offer.
I learned a lot from the MT Lab,” says Carl Otis, co-founder of OTIS Nature. As an entrepreneur, you have to know how to do everything: salesperson, accountant, human resources manager, and so on. At MT Lab, people with expertise in each field give us a better understanding of all areas of the business. It’s made us aware of our strengths and weaknesses so we can improve.”
