Launched in 2020, Montreal-based Radish offers restaurants a platform that enables them to guarantee a quality delivery service with hired, trained and salaried delivery drivers. Faced with the giants of home meal delivery, Radish has the advantage of being local, affordable and environmentally friendly.
Founded by seven associates, the young cooperative recently began offering delivery services by electrically-assisted cargo bike, with the aim of becoming completely carbon neutral by 2025.
Radish first participated in the MT Lab discovery program before joining the fifth cohort. The cooperative, which was already in operation with a number of restaurants, had the opportunity to broaden its horizons and open up to the tourism sector.
The MT Lab brought Radish not only expertise in a wider market, but also a watchful eye on the latest trends in the foodservice sector.
The support provided by receptive and available advisors has had direct and concrete repercussions for the start-up. Among other things, the MT Lab gave it access to experts from UQAM’s sustainable tourism research chair to develop its bike-cargo delivery project.
Radish’s $50,000 grant from MT Lab and the Quebec Ministry of Tourism also helped it hire a marketing person.
With the MT Lab network, Radish is now resonating in other cities in Quebec and Canada, where discussions are already underway.
We were lucky enough to take part in several events with other entrepreneurs,” says Georges Kattar, co-founder of Radish. Thanks to MT Lab, we were able to meet people close to our sector, but also in very different fields.”
