Quebec City, June 8, 2023 – Over the next few months, the MT Lab will be launching a wide-ranging consultation with its major partners and a host of tourism industry players as part of its Innovations en tourisme durable: Pour un déploiement pérenne de solutions innovantes en tourisme durable project, with the aim of proposing possible solutions to make Quebec a sustainable and innovative tourism destination.
“The Quebec tourism industry needs to adopt new behaviours, a new approach based on innovation and sustainable tourism, if it is to compete successfully on the international market. In particular, we will be consulting with our key partners, tourism and sustainable development experts and tourists, and then proposing solutions that will lead to the successful transition of Quebec as a sustainable destination,” explains Martin Lessard, General Manager of MT Lab.
In this way, all the players we met will be able to contribute to MT Lab’s reflection on the issues and challenges facing the tourism industry in today’s changing context. They will be called upon to contribute to the development of the best possible approach for moving the industry forward, which sooner or later will have to do things differently in terms of sustainable development.
This project is financially supported by the Quebec government as part of Destination durable et action concertéea support measure administered by the Fonds d’action québécois pour le développement durable (FAQDD) under the Plan pour une économie verte 2030, which aims to encourage climate-responsible tourism practices, and the Plan d’action pour un tourisme responsable et durable 2020-2025. MT Lab has been awarded $200,000 in financial assistance under this program.
