MT Lab, North America’s leading incubator-accelerator dedicated to tourism, culture and entertainment, is delighted to announce that the Port of Québec has joined the organization as a major partner in open innovation. This collaboration marks a significant turning point in the development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the National Capital Region.

The MT Lab, based in Montreal but with a hub in Quebec City, is positioned as an incubator and gas pedal for startups, a platform for open innovation and networking, a space for experimentation and monitoring, as well as a place for co-working and entrepreneurial support. Since its creation in 2017 by UQAM and Tourisme Montréal, the MT Lab has been working closely with some 15 major corporate partners to stimulate innovation and accelerate opportunities in tourism, culture and entertainment.

By becoming a key player in the MT Lab, the Port of Quebec is demonstrating its commitment to working hand-in-hand with startups and innovative companies to harness their energy and creativity.

“The Port of Québec is very pleased to join the MT Lab as a major partner in open innovation. Offering our port facilities as a laboratory for developing and showcasing the expertise of our companies and promoting them around the world is one of the key actions of our Vision 2035, one of whose four axes focuses on innovation. Since the Port’s cruise activities generate significant tourism and economic spin-offs for Quebec City and the surrounding area, it’s a natural partnership to help Quebec companies with innovative ideas in the tourism sector, both at home and abroad,” says Mario Girard, President and CEO of the Port of Quebec.

“It’s a great source of pride to see major players in the  entrepreneurial and tourism community join the MT Lab in the search for innovative solutions! I’m particularly proud that the Port of Québec, a major economic player in the Capitale-Nationale region, has come to share its leadership and desire for innovation.” Carl Frédéric De Celles, President of MT Lab.

“The arrival of the Port of Quebec as an open innovation partner opens up a whole range of opportunities in recreotourism. Innovators will see it as a testing ground where their solutions can bring new experiences or new services to visitors and tourists” Martin Lessard, MT Lab General Manager.

The Port of Québec joins a prestigious list of partners in the MT Lab, which is actively working to stimulate innovation, foster collaboration between businesses and propel the tourism, culture and entertainment industry to new horizons.
