Lucion + UQAT project

Lucion + Université du Québec
en Abitibi-Témiscamingue

The customer

Lucion is an interactive experience production company that brings together a wide range of creators working in the fields of entertainment, culture and public institutions. Visual artists, set designers, musicians, video artists, scriptwriters and interactive media specialists come together to offer a new perspective on the world. They develop immersive environments through architectural projections and light installations, integrating innovation into all their approaches.

Project summary

The funding will enable us to complete the research and development of biomaterials, developed in partnership with UQAT. These materials can then be used to build biodegradable structures in nature.

The aim is to be able to share the recipe for these materials for installations, exhibitions or even signage in Quebec’s forests. This initiative democratizes biomaterials expertise to raise awareness of nature without affecting its integrity.

This innovation will be tested at a new immersive exhibit in the form of an interactive forest walk: NōKTURN. This attraction tells the story of small fictional characters who reside in houses made from biomaterials.

The challenge

It’s important for museums and permanent attractions to renew themselves to attract new audiences. Innovative ideas from companies such as Stimulation Déjà-Vu are making such stations a reality.

Today, to stand out from the crowd, you need to employ innovative ideas and use technology to enhance the customer experience.

The solution

This unique exhibition offers the opportunity to immerse oneself in the marine world in a different way, and shows a new perspective on the exploration of aquatic environments.

The EAU’DORAT exhibition contains :

  • a varied olfactory station with information;
  • the opportunity to immerse yourself sensorially in the life of a polar bear and a shark, to become aware of their way of life;
  • marketing this exhibition to attract new visitors.

Associate

UQAT is involved in biomaterials research to develop a recipe that is sustainable, eco-responsible, resistant and reproducible in large quantities.

UQAT is therefore trying to develop a solution that will last at least 15 years before decomposing, with zero impact on flora and fauna. This innovation aims to attract tourists to our forests for a unique experience, with minimal impact on the surrounding biodiversity.

Results and findings

The exhibition was much appreciated by visitors and generated a great deal of enthusiasm. Good media coverage also helped to highlight the efforts and create excitement.

If we had to do it all over again, the materials would be chosen more for their durability, since we had to change several parts.
