Regenerative Tourism Hub

Regenerative Tourism Innovation Hub

Strengthening Destinations with Scalable, Globally Relevant Innovations for Good

What are MT Lab innovation hubs

Fueling Impactful Innovations on a specific topic

Since 2017, MT Lab fosters collaboration and innovation between destination stakeholders and entrepreneurs to bolster product-market fits in emerging fields of the tourism industry and related sectors

An Innovation hub is a spin off of our program that is dedicated to a specific topic:

• Catalyzing connections between innovators and stakeholders to bolster innovation around the topics.

• De-risk and accelerate innovation projects to achieve product-market fit, ensuring lasting, impactful results

• Shaping the future of sustainable tourism with concrete innovation

MT Lab masters Open innovation, an agile method where organizations do leverage external knowledge, resources and collaboration to drive innovations for themself and the benefit of the entire ecosystem.

We opened an Innovation Hub in Sustainable Tourism in Quebec City in 2022. We open our second Hub in 2025 in Renenerative Tourism.

What is Regenerative Tourism

A better destination after each journey

Regenerative tourism is when tourists leave a place or a community in better condition than it was before their journey.

Innovative projects in regenerative tourism exploit environmental opportunities to turn them into sustainable tourist attractions with positive impacts.

For example:

• Decontamination of former mining sites or reforestation of former logging areas transformed into tourist destinations with the creation of ecofriendly and energy-efficient cottages

• A mobile app that indicates where tourists can plan specific local tree species to restore and to prevent erosion

Tourism industry becomes an economic driver for other sectors with wellness of population and biodiversity in mind.
